Kyrgyzstan is to draw up a roadmap for recovery following natural disasters

Kyrgyzstan has assessed its preparedness for post-disaster recovery. Following the mission, conducted in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a national roadmap will be drawn up, setting out measures to address the aftermath of disasters and finance recovery efforts.

The two-day mission took place at the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of representatives from relevant government departments and the UN. Participants discussed coordination between government bodies, improvements to data collection and mechanisms for financing recovery.

The initiative is being implemented with the support of the ADB as part of a regional project to enhance preparedness for recovery following natural disasters, covering four countries. The roadmap is intended to help Kyrgyzstan strengthen its national recovery system and respond more effectively to the consequences of emergencies.
