In January–February 2026, according to the National Statistics Committee, Kyrgyzstan increased its foreign trade turnover to $2.1 billion, but maintained a significant negative balance. Exports fell to $306 million (–12.4% year-on-year), whilst imports reached $1.79 billion, resulting in a deficit of almost $1.5 billion. The main reason remains the country’s high dependence on imports, primarily from Asian countries. China remains the largest trading partner with a turnover of $658.8 million and a deficit of over $621 million. Among the EAEU countries, Russia ($551.5 million) and Kazakhstan ($243.3 million) lead the way, with a negative balance also persisting in trade with these nations.

Despite the decline in total trade turnover, trade with CIS countries grew by 3.5%, which partially offsets the decline in other areas.
