Chinese holding company wants to invest in the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Kyrgyzstan

The Chinese holding company Guangdong Holdings Limited has expressed interest in building hydroelectric power plants in Kyrgyzstan. This became known following a meeting between Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev and representatives of the company.

The main focus of the negotiations was on the republic's energy potential. Representatives of the Chinese holding company noted Kyrgyzstan's significant opportunities in the field of hydropower and expressed their readiness to consider projects for the construction of hydroelectric power plants and water supply facilities.

Currently, the country's National Investment Fund, together with representatives of Guangdong Holdings Limited, are working out the parameters of possible investment cooperation.

Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasized that attracting foreign investment in strategic industries, primarily in energy, is one of the priorities of the country's socio-economic development. He also noted that China remains a strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in implementing specific projects, primarily in the field of hydropower, as well as in agriculture, tourism, and investment infrastructure.
