The number of QR codes in Kyrgyzstan has risen by almost 89 per cent over the past year

In Kyrgyzstan, by 1 September 2025, the number of QR codes installed for cashless payments had reached 90,900. This is 88.8 per cent more than a year earlier. These figures are provided by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the same period, 266.5 million payments totalling 452.9 billion KGS were processed via the main payment gateway operator’s system. Compared with the same period in 2024, the number of transactions increased tenfold, whilst their total value rose sixteenfold.

The spread of QR payments is taking place against the backdrop of the development of digital financial services. In particular, Binance users in Kyrgyzstan can top up their accounts in KGS via the ELQR payment channel and use the funds received to purchase digital assets.

According to the company, the fee for topping up a Binance account in KGS via ELQR has been reduced by 25 per cent.

However, the use of digital assets involves additional costs and risks. The final cost of transactions depends, amongst other things, on the exchange rate and trading fees.
