The meeting, which took place on 1 November, was chaired by EEC Minister for Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev. Particular attention was drawn to the Seamless Transit project, presented by Kazakhstan, aimed at facilitating freight transport in Central Asia, along the Trans-Caspian route and in Transcaucasia. The initiative, launched in May this year, linked the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan (Southern Transport Corridor) routes and involves automating administrative processes for container transport by rail through the Altynkol point on the Kazakhstan-China border.
The project is being implemented jointly with the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, and its expansion to the route China-Kazakhstan-Russia-Belarus (Northern Transport Corridor) is planned for the first quarter of 2025. The participants expressed the wish to analyse the possibility of scaling the project for road transport within the EAEU.
In addition, the Commission delivered a presentation on the fulfilment by the EAEU countries of the Treaty on Railway Transport provisions.
The harmonisation of aviation legislation, transport development and participation in international agreements were discussed. The importance of the roadmap for 2024-2026 for a coordinated transport policy in the EAEU was emphasised, which is to be agreed by 1 February next year. The meeting also approved amendments to the Regulations on the Council of Heads of Authorised Bodies of the EAEU.
