Kyrgyzstan and Germany are to set up a working group to launch joint start-ups

Kyrgyzstan and Germany intend to expand cooperation in the fields of small and medium-sized enterprises, tourism, IT and start-ups. Issues relating to the development of bilateral economic cooperation were discussed at the sixth meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council in Cholpon-Ata.

The Prime Minister, Adylbek Kasymaliev, noted that Kyrgyzstan is particularly interested in German expertise and technology in industry, mechanical engineering, energy, green technologies, digitalisation and skills development.

One of the key areas of focus will be the development of trade. The parties intend to expand direct contacts between entrepreneurs, organise joint business missions and promote Kyrgyz products on the German market. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan plans to transition from exporting raw materials to establishing a complete production chain — from manufacturing and processing to packaging, logistics and export. As of June 2026, three Kyrgyz enterprises had already been granted the right to export products to the European market.

The parties paid particular attention to IT and start-ups. It was proposed to utilise the potential of the High-Tech Park and to set up a joint working group to launch a start-up pilot project in 2027. In the future, it is planned to implement the developed solutions at enterprises in Kyrgyzstan and promote them in Central Asian markets.

Tourism will be another area of cooperation. Kasymaliev highlighted the potential of the Issyk-Kul region for the development of sustainable winter tourism. According to him, the hosting of international events, including F1H2O and the 6th World Nomad Games, is already attracting the attention of foreign partners and investors to Kyrgyzstan.

The Prime Minister also noted that Kyrgyzstan’s removal from the EU’s ‘blacklist’ on aviation security creates an opportunity to launch direct flights to Europe. Germany has been identified as a priority destination in this regard.

“It is important for us not simply to maintain dialogue with German businesses, but to translate this into concrete projects, investments, technology and the entry of Kyrgyz products into the European market,” said Kasymaliev.

Following the meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council, the parties signed a protocol.
