Freight transport in Kyrgyzstan rose by 7.7 per cent over seven months

Between January and July 2026, 38.4 million tonnes of freight were transported across Kyrgyzstan by all modes of transport. This is 7.7 per cent more than in the same period of 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

The Talas region accounted for the largest volume of freight transport – 11 million tonnes. This was followed by Bishkek with 10.3 million tonnes, the Chui region with 9.5 million tonnes and the Issyk-Kul region with 2 million tonnes.

The most significant year-on-year growth in freight volumes was recorded in the Issyk-Kul Region – up 15.7 per cent, the Osh Region – up 14.3 per cent, and the city of Osh – up 11.9 per cent. In the Talas Region, freight volumes increased by 10.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, in the Chui Region, despite the large volume of freight, annual growth stood at 6.7 per cent, and in Bishkek at 3.5 per cent.

Freight turnover across all modes of transport for January–July rose by 60.2 million tonne-kilometres, or 3.2 per cent, compared with the same period last year. In July alone, freight turnover increased by 3.7 per cent year-on-year, but fell by 22.8 per cent compared with June.
