The main topic was the project to build the Barskoon-Uch-Tufan-Aksu highway leading to the Bedel checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. The talks were attended by executives from China Road and Bridge Corporation, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China National Gold Group, and other major players.
Torobaev emphasized that the road through Bedel is a strategic route that will strengthen transport links and enhance Kyrgyzstan's economic role in the region. A feasibility study for the project has already been prepared. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to set up joint working groups and to have Chinese delegations visit Kyrgyzstan for in-depth discussions on the details of implementation.
The Bedel checkpoint opened in September 2024 in test mode and became the third operational route between China and Kyrgyzstan, alongside Irkeshtam and Torugart. The introduction of a full-fledged road between Barskoon, Uch-Turghan, and Aksu will not only increase transit capacity but also open up opportunities for Kyrgyzstan to become a transit hub for Chinese goods entering third-country markets.
