06/24/2026, 12:44Kyrgyzstan and the United Nations system are beginning to draft a new strategic document on cooperation for the medium term. This was announced following a meeting between Bakyt Torobaev, the Kyrgyz President’s Special Representative for Special Assignments, and Antje Grave, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting took place on June 23 at the “Yntymak Ordo” Presidential Administration building. One of the key topics of discussion was the preparation of a new framework program for cooperation, which will define the main areas of collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and the UN following the conclusion of the current Framework Program for Cooperation on Sustainable Development for 2023–2027.
Antje Grave reported that work on the new strategic document has already begun. According to her, the UN system is ready to continue supporting initiatives aimed at the country’s sustainable economic development.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the current socioeconomic situation in Kyrgyzstan and the outcomes of the meeting of the Strategic Coordination Committee on the implementation of the current cooperation program.
Bakyt Torobaev noted that in recent years, the republic has demonstrated steady rates of socioeconomic growth. He briefed UN representatives on the key needs of the country’s regions, including agricultural development, environmental projects, tourism, ensuring the population has access to clean drinking water, and other priority areas.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their partnership and agreed to collaborate on practical initiatives aimed at the country’s further socioeconomic development.
