01/15/2026, 13:40Kyrgyzstan has begun negotiations with the United States following the decision to introduce a visa deposit of up to $15,000 for Kyrgyz citizens. This was announced by Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev at a conference dedicated to the results of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry's activities.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev commented on the tightening of US migration policy, including the introduction of a visa deposit of up to $15,000 and the suspension of immigration visas.
According to the minister, negotiations with the American side have already begun. The minister pointed out that the deposit amount is high and disproportionate to the financial capabilities of citizens. At the same time, the requirements also apply to other Central Asian countries.
Kulubaev noted that if visa rules are followed and documents are completed correctly, there will be no problems, but violations of the migration regime will lead to deportation. He also stressed that the suspension of immigration visas is an internal decision of the US.
Earlier, the US State Department introduced a visa deposit of $5,000 to $15,000 for citizens of 38 countries, including Kyrgyzstan. The new requirements for Kyrgyz citizens will come into force on 21 January 2026.
