Kyrgyzstan joins global commitment to zero waste

Minister of Labor Ravshanbek Sabirov signed an international initiative in support of sustainable development and ecology.

Kyrgyzstan has officially joined the Global Zero Waste Commitment. The document was signed on behalf of the country by Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Ravshanbek Sabirov.

Although the commitment is declarative in nature and has no legal consequences, it opens up access to a wide range of international opportunities, from the exchange of experience and technology to participation in global projects and attracting investment.

For Kyrgyzstan, the signing of the document is particularly important in the context of supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals in terms of sustainable consumption and production and combating climate change.

In addition, the initiative aims to improve the environmental situation in both urban and rural areas, develop a waste management system, and foster an environmental culture in society.

“The signing of the declaration opens up new horizons: international cooperation, exchange of experience, and participation in global environmental projects — without legal obligations, but with great opportunities,” the ministry emphasized.
