The mayor of Bishkek reprimanded officials after inspecting markets

On 23 February, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev conducted an on-site inspection of markets in the Sverdlovsk district of Bishkek. Following the inspection, the mayor reprimanded the district head, the head of the Municipal Property Management Department, and the director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.

The first site visited was the Dordoi market. The mayor inspected the area around the lake and the adjacent road zone, where a new expanded road is planned to be built. He instructed that the shoreline be cleared of reeds and that the improvement work be accelerated. According to the mayor's office, more than 20 tonnes of rubbish have already been removed from the reservoir.

The Sverdlovsk District Administration, together with the relevant services, has been instructed to intensify preparations for the construction of the road, including taking measures to dismantle illegal structures that interfere with the implementation of the project. The municipal inspection has been tasked with strengthening control over parking in green areas and working out options for the placement of multi-level car parks on the market territory.

Junushaliyev then inspected the Dinar and Chinar markets in the Alamedin-1 microdistrict. The tenant of Dinar has been instructed to repair the pavements and ensure free access for pedestrians. The district akimat has been instructed to consider asphalting and landscaping the adjacent area.

The Land Use Control Department, together with the Centre for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, was instructed to check compliance with sanitary standards and the legality of the placement of objects, with subsequent dismantling of violations.

During the meeting with traders, the mayor stressed that all measures will be carried out strictly within the framework of Kyrgyzstan's legislation. The head of the district has been instructed to personally supervise the improvement of the markets and bring the territory into proper condition.
