Ministry of Economy proposes to establish liability for the production of halal products without certificates

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is currently working on promoting a bill to amend the Code of Offenses in terms of establishing liability for violating the provisions of the aforementioned law on the halal industry.

The Halal Industry Act regulates the requirements for halal products, their production, certification, and labeling. The bill proposes to establish liability for the production of halal products and the provision of halal services without certificates of conformity, as well as for violations by the certification body of the rules for conducting procedures to confirm the conformity of halal products and halal services.

At the same time, work is underway to improve the halal certification system, including the digitization of certificate issuance and the introduction of more transparent and effective procedures for controlling production and product labeling.

These measures are aimed at protecting consumer rights and increasing confidence in halal products in the country.

Previously identified violations, including cases of pork DNA being found in the products of certain manufacturers, were eliminated after production processes were reviewed and laboratory tests were repeated.
