Ministry of Finance to hold auction to place 24 billion KGS in banks

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Finance will hold an auction today to temporarily place part of the state funds in commercial banks. This is stated on the website of the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange.

We are talking about money from a special ‘mitigation account’ — a reserve that the state uses to smooth out economic fluctuations.

Banks will be able to receive these funds in the form of deposits for a fixed term and under pre-established conditions. For the Ministry of Finance, this is a way to avoid keeping money idle and earn interest. For banks, it is an opportunity to attract large resources from the state.

A total of 24 billion KGS is planned to be placed. Of this amount, 4 billion KGS will go to annual deposits at 9.25%, 8 billion KGS to 2-year deposits at 10%, and 12 billion KGS to 3-year deposits at 10.5%.
