Kyrgyzstan to allow the cultivation of medicinal plants on agricultural land

The Parliamentary Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsurface Use, Ecology and Environmental Protection has approved a bill permitting the cultivation of medicinal plants on agricultural land in Kyrgyzstan.

The initiative was put forward by the Prime Minister, and the information was presented at the meeting by Mirbek Duishayev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.

The speaker emphasised that the bill creates a legal framework for the development of the production, processing and sustainable use of medicinal plants, reducing the pressure on wild populations and preserving biodiversity.

MPs, including Alisher Kozuev, Umbetaly Kydyraliev, Mahabat Mavlyanova, Gulsharkan Kultaeva, Tabyldy Muratbekov and Azizbek Tursunbaev, supported the initiative and proposed measures to improve cultivation, processing and export, and to minimise the risks associated with medicinal plants.
