08/03/2025, 09:00Minister of Health Erkin Checheibaev held a meeting with Ali Jaber Al-Marri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic. During the talks, the parties discussed current cooperation and outlined specific steps to expand cooperation in the field of healthcare.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the official invitation to the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in the World Summit on Mental Health, which is planned to be held in Qatar in autumn 2025. The Ambassador emphasised that within the framework of this event, it would be possible to hold a bilateral meeting between the ministers of health of the two countries to discuss priority areas of partnership.
The Kyrgyz Minister of Health expressed his gratitude for Qatar's support in developing the Kyrgyz health care system, including projects to build medical facilities and organise cochlear implants for children with hearing impairments.
Special attention was paid to mental health issues. The Kyrgyz side proposed to consider the possibility of providing support for the overhaul and construction of psychiatric facilities, in particular the Republican Psychiatric Hospitals in the villages of Chym-Korgon and Kyzyl-Zhar.
The Ambassador expressed his readiness to consider these proposals and noted that such projects could be implemented within the framework of the activities of the Qatar Charity Organisation.
As part of the expansion of human resources, an initiative was announced to train final-year students of medical universities in Kyrgyzstan in Qatar on a grant basis with a view to their subsequent return and work in the national health system.
The Kyrgyz Minister of Health confirmed his readiness to actively cooperate with charitable foundations and official structures in Qatar.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue the dialogue at the expert level and to organise additional meetings to discuss the details and mechanisms for implementing the planned initiatives.
