Milk remains the main product on Kyrgyzstan’s domestic food market

The capacity of the domestic market for milk and dairy products in Kyrgyzstan reached 1.6 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 6 per cent compared with 2024. This is the highest figure among staple foodstuffs, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

By way of comparison, the domestic market for cereals and processed cereal products stood at 1.4 million tonnes, whilst that for vegetables and melons was 1.28 million tonnes. The potato market reached 673,500 tonnes, and the market for meat and meat products stood at 357,700 tonnes.

Overall, demand for dairy products continues to grow. Over the year, the domestic market for these products increased by almost 90,000 tonnes, and by approximately 270,000 tonnes compared with 2019. Meanwhile, the market for fruit and berries grew even more significantly: to 636,900 tonnes, compared with 420,700 tonnes a year earlier.
