07/09/2026, 16:44In Kazakhstan, 59 police checkpoints have been set up near road border crossing points to curb the illegal export of fuel and lubricants. This was reported on the information portal of the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At these checkpoints, police officers, together with representatives of other state bodies, are inspecting vehicles crossing the border. Particular attention is being paid to identifying vehicles illegally fitted with additional fuel tanks.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the start of 2026, 255 instances of such vehicles being operated have been detected during checks. All offenders have been held administratively liable under Part 7 of Article 590 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences.
Among those held liable were 195 foreign nationals and 60 Kazakhstani citizens. After the illegally installed additional fuel tanks were removed, the vehicles were returned to their owners.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that checks at border crossing points are continuing as part of systematic efforts to curb the illegal export of fuel.
