Kyrgyzstan has amended the state standard for general education: what will change for children with disabilities

A resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers has introduced amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution ‘On the Approval of the State Educational Standard for General Education in the Kyrgyz Republic’.

The changes are aimed at ensuring equal access to high-quality general education, implementing the principles of inclusive education, and creating the necessary conditions for pupils with disabilities to receive an education.

In particular, provision has been made for the development and implementation of adapted educational programmes and adapted individual educational programmes, as well as the adaptation of the curriculum, teaching methods, forms and resources, and forms and procedures for assessment.

Furthermore, special learning conditions are to be provided for pupils with visual and hearing impairments, including the use of teaching materials in accessible formats, specialised technical aids and assistive technologies.

The Decree shall come into force ten days after the date of its official publication.
