A large consignment of smuggled cigarettes was detained on the border with Kazakhstan

On 28 March, a consignment of tobacco products worth more than KGS 4.7 million was detained on the Kyrgyz-Kazakhstani section of the state border.

The border guard of the Tokmok outpost (Chui Oblast) detected a Mercedes Benz Sprinter vehicle travelling towards Kazakhstan. During the inspection, it was found that the car contained 187 boxes of ORIS and OSCAR cigarettes without excise stamps.

Two citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, I.A.N. (born in 1998) and A.K.A. (born in 2000), were detained on the spot and tried to export tobacco products outside the established checkpoints.

After drawing up the necessary documents, the detainees and the cargo were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
