07/08/2026, 14:48In the first six months, Kyrgyzstan allocated 41.84 billion KGS from the national budget to service its public debt. These figures were published by the Ministry of Finance.
Of the total amount, 23.76 billion KGS went toward servicing external debt, and another 18.08 billion KGS went toward servicing domestic debt.
The bulk of the expenditures consisted of principal repayments. A total of 25.82 billion KGS was allocated for this purpose, including:
The government allocated 15.96 billion KGS to interest payments to creditors. Interest payments on domestic debt were more than twice as high as those on external debt: 10.92 billion KGS versus 5.05 billion KGS, respectively.
In addition, another 60.3 million KGS in other payments was spent on servicing external debt.
Thus, 56.8% of all public debt service expenditures went toward external debt, while 43.2% went toward domestic debt.
At the same time, the structure of payments differs significantly. While for external debt the bulk of funds was directed toward principal repayments (18.66 billion KGS versus 5.05 billion KGS in interest), the situation is reversed for domestic debt: interest payments (10.92 billion KGS) exceeded principal repayments (7.17 billion KGS).
