In Kyrgyzstan, 560 MVA of power system capacity has been preserved thanks to maintenance work

Maintenance work carried out on power grid infrastructure has made it possible to preserve around 560 MVA of Kyrgyzstan’s power system capacity. This was announced by Ilgiz Sadygaliev, Chairman of the Board of OJSC ‘National Electricity Grid of Kyrgyzstan’, at a meeting of the Ministry of Energy.

According to him, as part of preparations for the autumn–winter period of 2026–2027, the company is carrying out a comprehensive programme of measures to repair and modernise equipment.

In the first half of 2026, major repairs were carried out on 125 pieces of equipment at 35–500 kV substations, as well as on 656 km of 35–500 kV overhead power lines.

In addition, major repairs were carried out on 1,512 pieces of equipment at 0.4–10 kV substations and on 1,068 km of power lines.

According to Sadygaliev, preparations for the winter period also include the replacement of 48 power transformers, of which one is rated at 220 kV, 20 at 110 kV and 27 at 35 kV.

“As a result of the measures carried out, it is planned to add a further 560 MVA of capacity to the power system in 2026,” said the head of NESK.

He noted that preparations for the autumn–winter period are proceeding in accordance with the approved schedule, with no delays.
