Head of regional electricity distribution company detained on suspicion of accepting a large bribe

The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) has reported the uncovering of a corruption scheme involving illegal, systematic extortion of payments for connection to the national electricity grids, bypassing metering devices.

According to the agency, on 6 July 2026, as part of a criminal case under the article on accepting bribes, the head of the Panfilov Regional Electricity Service of the Chui Electricity Network Enterprise, OJSC ‘NESK’, born in 1993, was detained.

According to the investigation, the suspect received a bribe of an exceptionally large amount. Following his arrest, he was placed in the State Committee for National Security’s temporary detention centre in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The investigation is currently ongoing. The State Committee for National Security is taking steps to establish all the circumstances of the case and the possible involvement of other individuals.
