03/16/2026, 12:32Today, March 16, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev held an on-site meeting at the intersection of Chuy Avenue and Abdrakhmanov Street.
Currently, the owners are dismantling the previously erected structures. A preliminary design has been prepared, providing for the restoration of the fountain complex and the landscaping of the green area.
The mayor appealed to the management of the “Aichurok” shopping center, urging them not to repeat past mistakes.
“Let’s not repeat our mistakes. Today you’re fencing off the area again, and tomorrow boutiques will pop up there. We need to open up this space for the city’s residents and create a public recreational area here”, — the mayor emphasized.
The mayor instructed that a final design be prepared for the next meeting of the City Planning Council so that, once demolition work is complete, restoration and landscaping of the area can begin promptly.
The mayor also inspected the Old Bishkek project site together with representatives of Tashbolot Holding, where the owners have decided to demolish a three-story building. Taking into account the opinions of city residents, plans are in place to create pedestrian and green zones in this area.
Following the inspection, Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev instructed city services to take control of the projects’ implementation. Additionally, all structures along Chui Avenue, including the Beren Gold building, must be brought into compliance with the capital’s design code.
