The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic proposes new rules to combat fraud

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has prepared a draft resolution that introduces mandatory requirements for microfinance organisations to combat internal and external fraud.

MFIs will have to develop internal policies, implement real-time automatic transaction monitoring systems and maintain a register of suspicious clients with the possibility of blocking transactions.

Customers will have a 24/7 channel for reporting fraud, and organisations will be liable for compensating losses in the event of errors.

The document aims to improve the security and transparency of the microfinance sector and is currently under public consultation.
