The National Bank revoked the licences of 20 currency exchange bureaux in the second quarter

In the second quarter of 2026, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan imposed 545 enforcement measures on non-bank and specialised financial and credit organisations. The majority of these were imposed on currency exchange bureaux.

Following the results of its inspections, the National Bank issued 86 directives. Of these, 30 were issued to microfinance organisations, 29 to credit unions, 26 to currency exchange bureaux and one to a credit bureau.

The operations of 24 currency exchange bureaux were suspended. A further 24 bureaux were fined. One microfinance organisation was also fined.

The majority of the measures were taken as part of off-site supervision. A total of 356 orders were issued to currency exchange bureaux; a further two had their operations suspended, whilst 12 were fined.

In addition, the regulator revoked the licences of 20 currency exchange bureaux and one microfinance organisation.

In total, over a three-month period, 464 enforcement measures were taken against currency exchange bureaux, including 382 orders, 26 suspensions of operations, 36 fines and 20 licence revocations.
