08/10/2026, 12:20Income from non-residents is becoming an increasingly significant source of revenue for Kyrgyzstan’s budget. In the first six months of 2026, the state collected 8.7 billion KGS in taxes from them — almost 2.8 times more than in the same period last year.
By way of comparison, revenue in January–June 2025 stood at 3.1 billion KGS. Over the course of the year, it increased by almost 5.6 billion KGS, or 180.5 per cent.
Non-residents are defined as individuals and legal entities who do not have tax resident status in Kyrgyzstan but derive income from sources within the country.
The entire amount collected – 8.7 billion KGS – was channelled into the national budget. Local budgets did not receive any of this money.
The contribution of non-residents to total revenue from income and profit taxes has also risen significantly. They now account for around 8.6 per cent of such revenue. A year ago, their share was less than 5 per cent.
