According to the Ministry of Finance's forecast, Kyrgyzstan will pay off its current external debt in 2075

If Kyrgyzstan does not take out new loans and continues to make payments according to the current schedule, the country will make its final payment on the external debt accumulated as of June 30, 2026, in 2075. Thus, it will take nearly another half-century to repay its current obligations.

In the final year, Kyrgyzstan will have approximately $860,000 of principal remaining to repay. Interest payments will effectively cease by that time.

However, the peak burden will occur much earlier—in 2030. At that time, servicing the external debt will require about $1.1 billion, of which more than $1.03 billion will be principal and $66.7 million will be interest.

The main reason for this spike is the need to repay Kyrgyzstan’s $700 million in sovereign Eurobonds. These were issued at 7.75% per annum with a maturity date in June 2030. Currently, Eurobonds account for 13.4% of the country’s external debt.

According to the Ministry of Finance’s forecast, payments on existing external debt will amount to:

  • 2027 — approximately $506 million;
  • 2028 — $457 million;
  • 2029 — $462 million;
  • 2030 — approximately $1.1 billion;
  • 2031 — $372 million.

Thus, Kyrgyzstan will have to repay approximately $2.9 billion between 2027 and 2031 alone. Nearly 38% of this amount will be due in 2030 alone.

As of June 30, 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s total public debt reached 883.1 billion KGS, or $10.1 billion. Of this amount, external debt totaled $5.22 billion, and domestic debt totaled $4.88 billion.

From January through July of this year, 48.46 billion KGS have already been allocated from the budget to service the national debt.

It should be noted that 2075 cannot be considered the date of Kyrgyzstan’s complete elimination of public debt. The Ministry of Finance’s forecast takes into account only the external debt accumulated as of June 30, 2026. New loans and domestic obligations are not included in this schedule.
