The new railway line from Makmal to Karakol will cost $3bn

An agreement was signed in Bishkek on the implementation of the Trans-Eurasian Route public-private partnership (PPP) project, which will be the first in the history of Kyrgyzstan in the field of railway transport.

The project involves the construction of a new railway line from the village of Makmal to the city of Karakol with a total investment of about $3bn.

The signing ceremony was attended by Taalaibek Imanov, Director of the National Investment Agency, Azamat Sakiev, Director of the Kyrgyz Temir Jolu National Company, Nurbek Anarbekin, Director of the PPP Centre, and representatives of the All American Rail Group Global Infrastructure Partner LLC consortium, as well as employees of the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

The implementation of the project will create new jobs and will be an important step in modernising the country's transport network. The Trans-Eurasian Route is expected to significantly improve Kyrgyzstan's transport links with neighbouring countries, which will have a positive impact on the economy and increase the country's competitiveness in the international arena. The new route will promote trade and passenger traffic, improving Kyrgyzstan's transit potential and strengthening its position in Central Asia.
