According to the agency, they promised to help a construction company obtain a plot of land for $1.2 million, citing connections with the country’s top leadership.
The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported that the suspects received $70,000 as an advance payment, along with a Kia K5 car worth around $15,000. However, according to the investigation, they failed to fulfil their obligations.
After the victim demanded the return of the money and the car, the suspects, according to the security service, avoided meetings and refused to return the property, continuing to cite their connections with the republic’s leadership.
A criminal case has been opened in relation to this matter under the charge of ‘fraud’. The suspects have been remanded in custody at the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) detention centre. Investigations are currently ongoing.
