05/28/2026, 10:49It is planned to secure €23 million in the form of a loan and a grant to purchase electric buses for the city of Osh. This was announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship and Competition.
According to Deputy Minister of Finance Nurbek Akzholov, the funds are to be obtained from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Of the total amount, €14.74 million will be a loan and €8.26 million a grant.
The loan is to be provided for a term of 15 years with a three-year grace period.
The authorities intend to use these funds to purchase 46 electric buses for Osh, renovate the depot of the municipal transport company, as well as modernise existing trolleybus lines and build new ones.
Ernis Toltoev, Deputy Mayor of Osh, stated that the loan will be taken out at an interest rate of 3.46–3.83% per annum. Repayments will begin in 2029.
According to him, the city council will have to pay the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development around €1.2 million in interest. Thus, including interest, the total amount to be repaid will be €15.96 million.
