Pensions in Kyrgyzstan are set to rise from 1 October: the minimum pension will be 8,800 KGS

Pensions in Kyrgyzstan are set to increase from 1 October 2026. The insurance-based components of pensions will be indexed, and the minimum pension will be raised to 8,800 KGS.

Initially, the estimated indexation coefficient was 1.13. This was calculated taking into account price rises and the average wage for 2025. However, in view of the Social Fund’s financial capacity and to provide additional support to pensioners, a decision has been taken to set a higher coefficient of 1.20.

This means that the insurance component of the pension will increase by 20 per cent. The increase will be no less than 1,000 KGS and no more than 10,000 KGS.

Furthermore, for those receiving a pension for the first time, the amount cannot be less than 8,800 KGS. The shortfall will be covered by an increase in the basic component of the pension.

According to preliminary calculations by the Social Fund, there will be around 832,400 pensioners in Kyrgyzstan as at 1 October 2026. 4.4 billion soms have been earmarked for pension indexation.

As a result of the increase, the average pension is expected to reach 12,898 KGS. The average increase will amount to approximately 1,753 KGS.
