116 organ transplants were performed in Kyrgyzstan: lawmakers raised the issue of costs

In Kyrgyzstan, 116 organ transplant surgeries were performed at three medical facilities. On October 26, members of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh discussed the results of this work and the targeted use of budget funds for these purposes.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Nurbek Bukuev, 89 surgeries were performed at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, 19 at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, and another eight at the Osh State University Clinic.

Deputy Ulugbek Ormonov noted that the Ministry of Health’s report lacks information on transplants performed abroad. He also drew attention to the funding levels: in 2024, 100 million KGS were allocated to this sector; in 2025, 33 million; and in 2026, 64 million KGS. The MP raised the issue of oversight over the expenditure of funds and the completeness of the Chamber of Accounts’ reports.

Other deputies discussed the cost of surgeries, the availability of organ transplants, the creation of a unified registry of patients in need, the provision of post-operative medications, and the legal regulation of organ donation.

Following the meeting, the committee heard and took note of the information provided by the Ministry of Health.
