04/08/2026, 14:28In 2025, residents of Kyrgyzstan reduced the volume of remittances sent abroad. According to statistics, the total outflow of funds amounted to approximately $373.7 million. This is $72.1 million less than the previous year ($445.8 million).
The bulk of the outflow traditionally goes to CIS countries—$340.4 million, a significant portion of which goes to Russia ($329.1 million). It is precisely in this direction that the main decline is observed.
Remittances to countries outside the CIS remain relatively small—$33.4 million—with Turkey and the United States being the key destinations.
Against this backdrop, the start of 2026 only reinforces the trend toward a decline in outflows. In January, Kyrgyz citizens transferred a total of just $17.7 million abroad—the lowest figure in the past six years. A comparable level was recorded only in April 2020.
Traditionally, over 90% of all outflows go to Russia—and January was no exception. Of the $17.7 million, Kyrgyz citizens sent approximately $16 million to Russia.
At the same time, the volume of remittances to Russia was the lowest in a long time—the lowest in the last 14 years. A comparable level was recorded only in February 2012, when outflows totaled $16.6 million.
