Taxi passenger numbers in Kyrgyzstan rose by 6.5 per cent over eight months

Between January and August 2026, taxis in Kyrgyzstan carried 28.7 million passengers. This is 6.5 per cent more than during the same period last year.

An even more marked increase was observed in rail transport. Over the eight-month period, trains carried 397,500 passengers, which is 31.1 per cent more than in January–August 2025.

1.1 million passengers travelled by air during this period. Compared with last year, passenger numbers rose by 1.5%. However, buses remain the primary mode of transport, accounting for 394.2 million journeys.

Whilst most modes of transport saw growth, trolleybus services experienced a decline. Between January and August, they carried 3.2 million passengers, which is 8.9 per cent fewer than a year earlier.

Overall, passenger transport volumes increased across all regions of Kyrgyzstan over the eight-month period. The total volume stood at 427.7 million passengers, compared with 405.8 million a year earlier.
