Highly skilled migrants more likely to support families, says Deputy Minister of Labour

On December 16, an event dedicated to International Migrants Day was held in Bishkek. It was organized by the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad under the Ministry of Labor of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Bakyt Darmankul uulu emphasized the importance of safe and legal labor migration, as well as the role of private employment agencies in this process.

“Migrants are not just an economic category, they are people, their destinies, and the state's responsibility for their rights and safety,” the deputy minister noted.

He added that the higher the professional qualifications of citizens, the higher their salaries abroad and remittances to their families. According to him, every year almost 100,000 Kyrgyz citizens seek advice before leaving the country, 17-21% of whom are women, which requires special attention to the protection of their rights.

Bakyt Darmankul uulu also noted a positive trend: the number of labor migrants is gradually decreasing thanks to job growth and economic development within the country.

During the ceremony, the best private employment agencies were awarded for their high-quality work and contribution to legal labor migration, as well as for the introduction of modern standards and the digitization of services.
