Almost 30 thousand people legalized their assets. They may face a ban on public service - deputy

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev commented on the proposed amendments aimed at tightening the requirements for candidates for political office. In particular, it is proposed to prohibit persons who have a criminal record, even if it has been expunged or expunged, from holding such positions.

"If a person has a criminal record, even if it has been expunged or expunged, he will not be able to hold political office. Moreover, if a criminal case was initiated against him, which was terminated for non-rehabilitating circumstances - and there are many such cases - there will also be a restriction," Bekeshev explained.

He also noted that among the citizens there are those who declared and legalized their property - about 29 thousand 900 people. Legalization took place from 2023 to December 31, 2024.

“Theoretically, it is possible to close all of them the road to political office, because it is possible to initiate a criminal case on the origin of their income and then terminate it, and thus they will automatically have restrictions,” the MP added.

However, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) assured that those who underwent the procedure of legalization of property in the specified period do not fall under this norm.
