Almost half of the world’s cryptocurrency holders use the same platform

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that the number of registered users on its platform has exceeded 323 million. According to the company’s estimates, this represents around 43 per cent of all cryptocurrency holders worldwide.

According to Binance, more than 741 million people now own cryptocurrencies, compared with fewer than 6 million in 2017. During this time, the platform’s user base has grown from zero to 323 million people.

Binance’s cumulative trading volume since its inception has reached $156.4 trillion, having increased by approximately $11.4 trillion in the first half of 2026 alone. Meanwhile, the number of institutional users on the platform rose by 9 per cent between January and June.

The company notes that market growth is being driven by increasing interest from institutional investors and the gradual development of digital asset regulation in the world’s largest economies.

However, these figures are based on Binance’s own data.
