Almost three-quarters of Kyrgyz enterprises’ overdue debts are owed to foreign creditors

As at 1 April 2026, Kyrgyz enterprises’ overdue payables to foreign counterparties stood at 17.99 billion KGS. This represents around 80 per cent of the total volume of overdue business liabilities, which reached 22.54 billion KGS.

Creditors from countries outside the CIS account for 16.7 billion KGS of overdue debt. Enterprises owe a further 1.3 billion KGS to partners from CIS countries. Among the CIS states, the largest creditor is Uzbekistan, with overdue debt amounting to 727.4 million KGS. It is followed by Russia – 251 million KGS – and Kazakhstan – 208 million KGS.

Within Kyrgyzstan, enterprises’ overdue accounts payable amount to 4.55 billion KGS.

The manufacturing sector remains the main debtor, accounting for almost 20 billion KGS of overdue liabilities. Significant levels of debt have also accumulated in the trade sector – 726.3 million KGS, the energy sector – 570 million KGS, the property sector – 285.6 million KGS, transport and freight storage – 226.4 million KGS, and the mining sector – 232 million KGS.

The structure of the debt indicates that the majority of Kyrgyz enterprises’ overdue liabilities are owed to foreign suppliers and partners, primarily from countries outside the CIS.
