08/31/2026, 11:21The area sown with cereal crops in Kyrgyzstan in 2026 totalled 617,700 hectares, an increase of 10,800 hectares, or 1.8 per cent, compared with the previous year.
The area sown with barley increased by 4.1 per cent to 256,800 hectares, whilst that of maize for grain rose by 0.5 per cent to 112,000 hectares. Wheat was sown across 247,500 hectares, which is in line with last year’s level.
The area under oilseeds also increased – by 6.5 per cent, to 13.3 thousand hectares – as did that under potatoes – by 3.1 per cent, to 66.7 thousand hectares. Fodder crops covered 414.5 thousand hectares, which is 2.9 per cent more than the previous year. The area under perennial grasses sown in previous years rose by 2.5 per cent, to 338,600 hectares.
