Following the fuel oil spill in Suusamyr, the person responsible was fined

Following further assessments of the damage caused by the fuel oil spill in the Suusamyr Valley, a claim for a further 10,100 KGS was brought against the person responsible for the road traffic accident. He had previously been fined 20,000 KGS.

Inspectors from the Chui Regional Directorate of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service under the Ministry of Natural Resources have completed further work at the scene of the road traffic accident involving a fuel oil spill in the Suusamyr Valley.

Following an assessment of the damage to the soil cover, a claim for 10,080 KGS was brought against the person responsible. In addition, specialists fully collected and neutralised the remaining spilled fuel oil.

Previously, the person responsible for the accident had been held liable under Article 237 of the Code of Offences and fined 20,000 KGS.

The accident occurred at the 205th kilometre of the Bishkek–Osh motorway. According to preliminary data, approximately 4–5 tonnes of fuel oil spilled onto the ground after the vehicle carrying it overturned.

The incident had previously been reported on social media. Following these posts, the Ministry of Natural Resources carried out an inspection and assessed the environmental damage.
