Elderly Kyrgyz citizens are most often victims of fraudsters and thieves

In 2025, 1,638 crimes against elderly citizens were reported in Kyrgyzstan. This is evidenced by official statistics.

The most common type of crime against pensioners was fraud, accounting for 38.5% of all cases. In second place was theft, which accounted for 29% of the total number of crimes. Most often, this involved the theft of personal property, money, and household appliances.

In addition, among the recorded offenses were:

  • 4.2% — violations of traffic rules and motor vehicle operation;
  • 3.8% — cattle theft;
  • 2.9% were cases of hooliganism.

It should be noted that older people are more often targeted by criminals because of their trustfulness, poor digital literacy, and limited access to information. Single pensioners remain particularly vulnerable.
