Companies are reducing wage arrears, but problems remain in Chui and Jalal-Abad regions

Against the backdrop of an overall improvement in financial discipline in the country, corporate wage arrears have fallen significantly. As of 1 August, the total amount of unpaid wages stood at 83.1 million KGS. This is 38% less than a year earlier.

This result can be considered a positive sign for the labour market. However, there are regional imbalances in the republic. For example, almost 41% of the total debt is in the Chui region, where unpaid wages reached 34 million soms. Another 37% is in the Jalal-Abad region (30.9 million KGS) and Bishkek accounts for 17.5% (14.6 million KGS). Together, these three regions account for more than 95% of the country's total debt.

The situation is more stable in other regions. For example, in Issyk-Kul, the debt has been reduced to almost 500,000 KGS, in Osh region, including the city of Osh, to 200,000 KGS, and in Talas region, there is officially no wage arrears.

It should be noted that a reduction in wage arrears has been observed in all regions of the country.
