03/27/2026, 17:13Today, a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was held in Shymkent, attended by EAEU member states. The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, raised issues of migration, logistics and digital transformation.
In Shymkent, as part of a working visit to Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev took part in an expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The meeting brought together the heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as representatives of Armenia, observer states and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The discussion centred on more than ten issues relating to economic cooperation and the further development of the Union. In his address, Kasymaliev noted that over the past five years, the economies of the EAEU member states have demonstrated steady growth. Compared to 2020, both the GDP of the member states and the volume of mutual trade have increased. Kyrgyzstan, he said, is also showing stable positive growth.
Particular attention was paid to issues of labour migration. The Prime Minister emphasised that, despite the existence of agreements on the free movement of labour, the Union’s member states do not always manage to effectively coordinate national decisions in this area. In this regard, he proposed establishing a permanent platform for consultations between the relevant ministries.
Logistics was another key topic. Kasymaliev noted that the digitalisation of processes could significantly speed up the movement of goods and increase transparency. At the same time, he highlighted existing problems related to additional checks, tax assessments and control measures at delivery points.
The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of the Roadmap for the ‘Eurasian Economic Route’ Declaration. Digital transformation, the development of industrial cooperation and the introduction of innovations were identified as priorities. According to Kasymaliev, this requires modernising infrastructure, training skilled personnel and improving the legislative framework.
Following the meeting, 13 issues were considered and a number of documents were signed. It was decided that the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council would be held in Kyrgyzstan in August this year.
