In his speech, he noted the stable growth of key indicators: the combined GDP of the EAEU countries increased by 2% in the first quarter of 2025, industrial production grew by 1.6% over five months, and Kazakhstan's industrial sector added 6.4%. In addition, there has been growth in agricultural production and retail turnover.
The Prime Minister paid particular attention to the elimination of barriers and restrictions within the Union. He stressed the need to consistently remove hidden restrictions, including complex sanitary, veterinary and customs procedures that impede the free movement of goods and industry capital. According to him, the free movement of goods and increased transparency of trade procedures remain key objectives of the EAEU.
«As practice shows, the parties often bypass the rules and establish additional requirements that are often impossible for other countries to meet. We call on our partners to make balanced decisions, taking into account the equal access of our suppliers to the union states. Unfortunately, those who count on the openness and accessibility of the common Eurasian market continue to face hidden restrictions. In fact, we are seeing full-fledged veterinary, sanitary and customs controls, which are being imposed on goods. There are signs of double deception. In a number of cases, impartial transit through the territories of states and members is not ensured. Colleagues, when creating our union, we set the main goal of ensuring the free movement of goods and industry capital. I have already proposed discussing the possibility of an approach and resolving these issues. The Commission is recommended to continue its work on the consistent removal of remaining barriers and restrictions», — said Olzhas Bekenov.
The development of transport and logistics corridors and the training of qualified personnel in the field of logistics were also named among the priorities.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the effective use of EAEU financial instruments, such as the Eurasian Development Bank and the Eurasian Stabilisation Fund, will enable the implementation of large-scale infrastructure and digital projects that will promote business growth and improve conditions for the citizens of the Union countries.
