KGMA lecturer detained while receiving a bribe of 150,000 KGS

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported the detention of a lecturer at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I. Akhunbaev while receiving a bribe.

According to the SCNS, on 8 October, a lecturer born in 1987, identified only as ‘D.N.D.’, was caught red-handed in the main building of the university after receiving 150,000 KGS from students. A student was in his office, and during a search, another 100,000 KGS were found on her. According to her, the money was collected by the whole group to ‘guarantee passing the exam session.’

The investigation established that the lecturer extorted money for positive grades and threatened to lower the grades of those who refused to pay. It also emerged that he did not actually teach classes and violated the curriculum. A criminal case has been opened against the lecturer under the article ‘Extortion of a large bribe,’ and he has been placed in the GKNB detention centre. The investigation is ongoing.
