The President of Kyrgyzstan opened the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, addressed the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. At the start of his speech, he congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on the country’s Independence Day and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hold the meeting on this festive occasion.

Sadyr Japarov noted that the meeting was taking place in the year marking the 25th anniversary of the SCO. According to him, over the past quarter of a century, the organisation has become a significant mechanism for international cooperation, uniting states that play an important role in shaping the modern world order.

“Over this period, we have held around 200 events. We have strengthened cooperation in the field of security, promoted economic and transport interconnectivity, and strengthened cultural and humanitarian ties”, — the President noted.

The President emphasised that this anniversary year should mark the start of a new phase in the SCO’s development, based on lasting peace, development and prosperity. Following his opening remarks, he declared the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States open.
