12/17/2025, 12:48A public discussion of the preliminary environmental impact assessment for the Kumtor Mine Tailings Processing Complex project was held in the village of Kyzyl-Suu in the Jeti-Oguz district. Local residents, government officials, and members of the public participated in the hearing.
Representatives of Kumtor Gold Company presented the project parameters in detail, noting that the processing of old tailings is aimed at reducing environmental risks, improving industrial safety, and reusing previously accumulated waste. According to them, the project also has economic significance for the region and is in line with the principles of sustainable development.
During the discussion, residents were able to ask questions about the environmental impact, processing technologies, and environmental protection measures. Company representatives provided explanations on all the topics raised.
Following the public hearings, local residents and government officials unanimously supported the implementation of the project.
