The minimum subsistence level in Kyrgyzstan rose by 11% and approached 8,800 KGS

The basic cost of living is rising in Kyrgyzstan. According to the results of the third quarter of this year, the average subsistence minimum per capita was 8,758.6 KGS per month. This is 11% more than in the same period last year, according to the National Statistical Committee.

Growth was observed in all regions of the country. The highest figure was recorded in Bishkek – 9,114 KGS. This is almost a thousand more than in the Osh and Issyk-Kul regions, where the minimum subsistence level remains at 7,400-7,500 KGS.

The average figure for the country is approaching 9,000 KGS. This reflects the rise in prices for both food and services.

According to the structure of the subsistence minimum approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, 65% of expenditure is on food. The energy value of the minimum food basket is estimated at 2,101 kcal, including 73 grams of protein and 71 grams of fat.

By socio-demographic groups, the highest subsistence minimum is for the working-age population — 9,818.4 KGS. This is 11.2% more than a year ago, when it was 8,827.3 KGS.

The range of subsistence minimums highlights the significant difference in the needs and expenses of different age groups.
