Working pensioners in Kyrgyzstan receive a pension increase twice a year

Working pensioners in Kyrgyzstan receive a pension increase twice a year. Nurzat Zhakieva, Deputy Head of the Public Relations Department at the Social Fund, announced this during a broadcast on ‘Birinchi Radio’.

According to her, upon retirement, some citizens cease working, whilst others continue to work.

As working pensioners pay monthly insurance contributions to the Social Fund amounting to 8 per cent of their salary, their pension is recalculated annually. The recalculation takes place in May, and the increased pension amount begins to be paid from that month.

Meanwhile, the pensions of non-working pensioners are indexed only once a year — in the autumn.

Thus, working pensioners receive an increase twice: first in May, thanks to the annual recalculation of insurance contributions, and second in October as part of the general pension indexation.

Furthermore, as working pensioners continue to pay insurance contributions, the funds in their individual pension accounts increase, which also affects the size of the autumn pension increase.
